The Life Span Institute at the University of Kansas is looking for students with intellectual disability (ID) between the ages of 10 and 17 to take a survey on personal strengths. The VIA-Youth has 98 short items rating 24 character strengths (humor, creativity, social intelligence, etc.) and 6 virtues (wisdom, courage, etc.). They are recruiting young people who can answer self-reports and rate whether or not a statement is like them or not based on a five-point scale.
The VIA-Youth was originally developed for adolescents without disabilities, but we want to be able to use it effectively with youth with disabilities for person-centered planning and community inclusion. Student and adult (family member or teacher) participants will each get a $10.00 gift card to thank them for participating.
Please contact one of the researchers if you are interested in participating.
