The Pennsylvania’s Department of Health and the PEAL Center are hosting a weekend Institute for youth with disabilities to become empowered to make changes in their lives and communities.
They are looking for youth leaders with disability from Pennsylvania, ages 14-28, to participate in a Youth Development Institute and to bring their experiences to the group. Exciting activities are planned where youth will meet other young leaders who are making a difference in their communities. Youth leaders with disabilities from western Pennsylvania are encouraged to apply.
Information about the Youth Development Institute
The Youth Development Institute works to promote the development of self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-advocacy, and self-determination of youth with disabilities. The YDI is meant to develop youth leaders who have the necessary skills to lead future events. The YDI leaders are responsible for fostering an atmosphere of acceptance, tolerance, and fun.
The YDI will be held Friday April 17, 5:00 p.m.- 8:00pm to Saturday April 18, 9:00am-4:00pm, at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Cranberry Township.
A grant will pay for lodging for attendees and, and a support person, and meals will be provided during the YDI.
