The Department of Health, in partnership with Pennsylvania System of Care, is holding Team UP For Families (TUFF) training for parents/caregivers of children with special health care needs. The training will be held on April 5, 2017 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Child Welfare Resource Center in Mechanicsburg, PA.
This six hour training is peer-lead and family centered. Families will learn to effectively communicate needs and concerns with providers. They will gain knowledge and skills to navigate service systems and decipher unfamiliar jargon. Families will also learn how to track a child’s treatment progress in daily life and also build a strong circle of support to meet ongoing challenges.
The parent/caregiver will be reimbursed for travel expenses and some child care. Hotel accommodations will be provided the evening of April 4, 2017, for those parent/caregivers traveling more than 50 miles to the training.
TUFF is especially recommended for families that are not well networked and are new to the system.
If you are aware of a parent/caregiver that would like to attend this training please contact Kim Wentzel by February 16, 2017.
